Practice Nurse/Smoking Cessation Advisor

The practice employs highly skilled nurses trained in the monitoring and treatment of chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, HRT, contraception, coronary heart disease, COPD, and high blood pressure. The nurses are also trained in the assessment and management of minor illnesses. Routine and urgent appointments to see a practice nurse may be made with our treatment area receptionist.

The nurse will:

  • renew dressings
  • remove sutures
  • take blood
  • Check and process urine samples
  • minor injuries
  • administer vaccinations
  • Cervical smear tests
  • Smoking cessation advice
  • Health checks which consist of height, weight and blood pressure including smoking and alcohol status with life style advice
  • Offer general advice
  • Assist doctors

Healthcare Assistants

Our healthcare assistant supports our team of doctors and nurses and is available on a rota base; Jackie is also fully trained in assisting the doctors in minor op clinic and fully trained on giving smoking cessation advice.
